Children’s Liturgy of the Word  
        

Mark 10:13-16

 

When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come
 to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
15I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little
child will never enter it." 16And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on
them and blessed them.

 
    During mass, the children are invited to the classroom to hear, discuss, and
share their views on the scripture readings. We are looking for volunteers
to help with this ministry. Adults and Teenagers are welcome. We need two
volunteers for each mass. You need to have taken Keeping the Children Safe
class and/or Class appropriate for teens. Please contact Beth Norton for more

The Children’s Liturgy of the Word is based on the scripture readings for
each Sunday and includes a brief opening prayer, a child-friendly presentation
based on that Sunday’s scriptures, and an activity.
What age must the children be to attend?
The program is especially designed for children ages 6 to 9; however, all
children are welcome to attend.


How does the program work?


After the opening prayers of the Mass, the priest invites
the children to come forward to the front of the church to
receive a blessing and then proceed to the classroom, where
the program is held. The children return to the church in
time for the Apostle’s Creed.
Who coordinates the program?
The program is coordinated and led by Beth Norton and other volunteers.


How can I help?


We would welcome more adults and teens who would like to assist with the
program in any of the following areas:
• Assisting the presenter with a session.
• Providing materials for use in a session (coloring pages, art materials,
stickers).
• All volunteers must take Keeping the Children Safe class.
